Rating: A Recommended “Best Book”

Joey W. Hill is an unparalleled writer who pulls you into a very dark and sensual world full of danger and political intrigue. Her characters are always in-depth and intricate with a hint of vulnerability in some of them and a bit more in others. Either way, you find yourself rooting for them and hanging onto the edge of your seat as they work their way through. The world building Joey is capable of is simply mesmerizing, and even though her stories are pleasingly lengthy, I never want to come to that last page!

I have to recommend this for a Best Book, as I will be rereading this one over and over along with the first installment of this story. Joey W. Hill writes relationships that are so complex, they suck you in and keep you trying to figure how they will turn out. She brings such moments of intensity that your heart is pounding and it’s hard to catch your breath; then tempers those feelings by interspersing such tender, emotional scenes throughout that your heart lifts and you feel the need to sigh. Joey W. Hill is a truly gifted author, and I eagerly anticipate her upcoming stories.

Award-winning author Joey W. Hill's attention to the details of uncontrollable sexual appetite packs a powerful punch that will burn the reader’s fingertips with each turning of the page. That attention to detail will also bring across an emotionally charged action-filled story of love, loss, and new beginnings, along with all the sexual fantasy and delicious temptations we have begun to expect from Joey W. Hill. As you are taken though the intricacies and lust-filled relationships between vampires and their human servants, you will find Ms. Hill's ability to create balance in this complex world astounding, to say the least. She never loses focus of the underlining story as she draws the reader in.

What makes The Mark Of The Vampire Queen even more compelling is the dichotomy of good and evil. Darkly rich erotica at its finest, The Mark Of The Vampire Queen is definitely not your garden-variety romance tale. Ms. Hill pushes the normal boundaries, sparking your imagination to new heights as she pulls at your heart. As the twists and turns unfold, you will be as surprised as I was at the ending of this creative story. The Mark Of The Vampire Queen will appeal to fans of both paranormal and erotica alike. I strongly recommend that before picking up The Mark of the Vampire Queen (Vampire Queen Book 2) you take the time to read the first book in this series, The Vampire Queen's Servant (Vampire Queen Book 1). Sometimes when a story is as powerful as this one, it is impossible to put everything into one book. I promise it will be well worth it.

The Mark of the Vampire is a superb sequel to The Vampire Queen's Servant and the author brings the reader up to speed with the current action. This is erotica at its best with lots of sizzle and a love that is truly sacrificial. Joey W. Hill continues to grow as a stunning storyteller. I will look forward to new books in the future.

Anyone who has read The Vampire Queen’s Servant, the first book in Joey W. Hill’s Vampire Queen series, will understand just how much I have coveted its sequel, Mark of the Vampire Queen, since I read it. The book that kicked off this fantastic paranormal saga was wonderful, but felt much like a ‘part one’. Having now enjoyed the second book, I can tell you with great delight that Mark of the Vampire Queen is very definitely a continuation of that first story and that the two together make for a powerful and edgy story that is not to be missed.

Over a thousand years old, and the most powerful vampire in the world, Lyssa is accustomed to being obeyed without question. Jacob’s insubordination, despite its altruistic cause, is trying for her. Strangely, though, she finds herself growing to treasure his care, his presence, and even the man himself – something that goes against all tenets of the vampire-human relationship. Consequently, our own empathy for this disheartened lady grows just as her feelings for Jacob do. Through it all, Joey W. Hill keeps the tension high as Jacob and Lyssa prepare for the annual Vampire Council and the danger it brings to their lives. Once they arrive at the event, however, things turn absolutely explosive…

As fans of this author would expect, the sex is wonderfully rampant throughout the story, titillating the reader with some very inventive scenes, and some very touching moments. Readers be warned, however, the vampire world has very liberal ideas concerning sex, especially with human servants, and anything goes! For many of us, that is less a warning than a selling point, of course! Mark of the Vampire Queen is a riveting yet unconventional paranormal romance that is sure to thrill readers who enjoy something a little different on their bookshelves.

Dark and richly romantic, this novel is a smooth transition from Hill’s The Vampire Queen’s Servant. There are scenes that will make you laugh and cry, and those that will be a feast for your libido and your most lascivious fantasies. The ending will surprise and leave you clamoring for more.

Hotter than Hell...

This is the second novel I have read by author Joey Hill. I'm reading them backwards, but I fear Ms. Hill has gotten it right. She is the best vampire author around, and I am a huge fan of the genre. A must read series.

First off let me say that I loved The Vampire Queen's Servant. This is part two in Jacob's quest to win his masters heart and soul. I will not say that you must read the first one... but to understand the world that Ms. Hill has created for these two and what they have gone through to get there, you really should read the first one.

Okay... moving forward... The romance between Jacob and Lady Lyssa is very breathtaking. Their relationship blossoms into the fullest it possibly can. Jacob has received his third mark; which means that he has bound himself to his Master until death. Imagine saying our wedding, you say: till death do us part... now imagine if that were true, your spouse died, you died with him/her. This book does not deter away from the BDSM parts of Ms Hill's style. Her writing style just simply amazes me. To read her books (the two that I have) will throw you in a world of her very own. Be prepared to go on a journey you will sure to be enthralled in.

Lady Lyssa is slowly dying and Jacob will do everything in his power to stop that from happening. Along with her sickness, there is the meeting coming before the Council. Lady Lyssa is trying to pave a better future for the vampires. One of her goals is to address the issue of permanent asylum for the fugitives in her territory. And the other is to push for them to become more civilized by only needing to kill one human a year for them to maintain their strength. But some vampires do not agree with her thinking and want to over throw the Council. and her. So the plot thickens... I will tell you this though, this story left me wanting more... It's in the ending, but I am not quiet sure where and that is my problem. I am not sure if her being of two heritages got me, or that she shifted, or that the love did not go the way I wanted it too (yea, I am selfish like that) or what... but something was missing for me. Maybe the power struggle... the grand ending. I will struggle with this and it will bother me... Because I love this woman's writing!!

I love what has become of Jacob and his Master. The journey he goes to get there. If there is a man out there like Jacob... oh please let yourself be known! This man will do anything, everything and back again for his woman. OMG... Jacob remains my Sex on a Stick man.

"Sizzling paranormal erotica with an unexpected ending."

THE MARK OF THE VAMPIRE QUEEN, the second book by Ms. Hill about Jacob and Lady Lyssa, is an adventure in erotica. If you like your stories hot, like I do, you'll love this one. It's a sizzling look into the world of the vampire/human servant relationship. Jacob and Lyssa's relationship is intense and extreme -- and not to be missed. I love these characters...and the twist at the end is totally unexpected. I can't wait to see if their story continues. A very good read.

The second in what's now going on a five-book series, even though it's been out only 18 months, "The Mark of the Vampire Queen" can stand alone as a great read through author Joey W. Hill's vision of a vampire world.

It's not J.R. Ward's Brotherhood of the Black Dagger, and it's not Bella and Edward's "Twilight" innocence for sure. No, in Hill's world, the vampires have the power and strength of Ward's boys, but the humans are their servants and erotic playthings. Make that very erotic.

The Vampire Council comes to a fast-paced, explosive conclusion that is both thrilling and heartbreaking. But the book, thank goodness, doesn't end there. Hill has one more twist that, because it makes sense in the world she has constructed, should leave most readers by far very, very content.
